Texas fans turning on Davis......

  • In 3 years at Texas, Bo Davis never signed a DT that started at UT or one that will start. Caldwell was going to Oregon regardless of any Bo Davis move.

Davis' lack of recruiting success has finally caught up to the Horns. After 2 years of outstanding interior DL play, we're poised for a regression there this coming season. That could be among the reasons that Davis left Texas for LSU.
this is nothing new.. people on UT boards have been saying this since '22.. We weren't even in the picture for the state's top DL (Hicks) and every other big fish out of state passed on us too.

but many of us, including me, defended him because of the work he did with the current players. This cycle is huge because I do think he brought on board one of the most underrated DT in the country in Brown. Hope he sticks with us though.. Bo is going hard after him to come to LSU

Doesn't sound like anything is gonna materialize here with the Longhorns. Texas was looking at bringing him in on a visit this week. Didn't come together. He's picking between South Carolina, Miami, and LSU today. I would lean towards LSU right now.

I think 247 rated him as a 4 star DL and the 10th rated guy at his position for this portal cycle. However, experienced D-Lineman that can play have been in demand and in short supply.

I know Oregon was looking green at the defensive line. I was worried about the D-Line in 2024 after the 2023 season concluded. However, getting Caldwell and Harmon, I'm feeling a lot better about Oregon's defensive front.

I don't follow Oklahoma close enough to know their situation but getting a productive D-Lineman is always a good thing.

We sub a LOT on the DL.

…unless the opponent is in hurry-up.

BV has got this.

Cal has done a nice job in the portal and I think they are better than most people realize. I would be surprised to see them finish .500 or better in ACC play. I also really like what NC State has done in the portal. They've struggled to find explosiveness offensively the last couple of years. I like McCall and a couple of their transfer WRs and RBs. If the defense continues to play at a high level, they could end up being a top 3 or 4 team in the ACC. Dabo's reluctance to use the portal has been a major story. I think it's hurting the program.

The Big 12 will be fun to watch moving forward. There are a couple of weaker teams at the bottom but the top 2/3 of the league will be really competitive with each other. There should be a ton of one possession games in the Big 12.

If that list of Average Transfer Ranking is a reflection of things, you are absolutely correct. I don't think that bottom third is really as far from the top third as you do. But we shall see. I think the outcome may depend more on injuries, which teams avoid others in the schedule, and the order of the schedule, i.e. when teams play in relation to who is injured, back to back tough games, etc. I just don't see much separation among the entire 16 teams.

The down side of such might be the top 2-3 teams have 3-4 losses which could mean only the champion gets a CFP spot.

I think the league is very competitive. But teams like Cincy, ASU, Houston, etc. aren't competing for a Big 12 title. They'll be lucky to get to 6 wins. I think what makes the Big 12 different is that those programs don't have to be at the bottom. From a resource perspective, all the Big 12 teams are pretty comparable. In the SEC, Vanderbilt will never compete with the top of the conference. Same with Rutgers or Indiana in the Big Ten.

Bundle these rankings with what teams have/lost in personnel and you got yourself a bunch of potential.

I have no fucking idea how this coming CFB season will shake out, and I like it.

I'll take a B+ ranking. Getting Burkes on offense and Williams on defense was huge

lol so the ou commit from louisville flipped to us today.. guess his check bounced when they signed Williams.. probably the other reason why Jonah WIlliams and Coby Sellers are both trending away all of the sudden...

I mean OU has won 7 of the last 10 vs texas. If he wants to be a loser be a loser.
